I took out the long shaft that releases the clutch and cleaned it and the housing and lubed the pedal shafts as the clutch sticking and not releasing properly.

If it is a 1956 model, your code would have an A or B and the engine would be an R7. That is if it is the original engine. The engine serial number is behind the hydraulic lines above the dip stick.
