The whole idea of drilling the 2 plugs behind the t gears on a BBC got its start because it helped eliminate noisey hyd lifters on start up, due to an air lock on the end of the galley. It wasn't for oiling the chain, the chain gets way, way more oil than it can ever use, or need. Then use a length of heavy guage wire that will run the length of the oil galley, and tap out the soft plugs at the front of the block from behind.

There's 3 of them. The rear plugs (under the flywheel) are threaded, 1/4" NPT, or tapered pipe.
